When it's good it's good but when it's bad its oh so bad! That is what I feel my recent posts have been reflecting. I was so hoping 2010 was gonna be our year...Doesn't look that way, but hey there is always 2011 right? haha! Things COULD be much worse so I just thank my lucky stars they aren't. There is ALWAYS someone out there that has it worse then you. Always.
I HAVE had some wonderful things going on. My husband and I got away for our 3 year wedding anniversary. We went to a local hotel and had a very nice time. We watched Get Him to the Greek. FREAKING HILARIOUS! Loved it. I didn't think it would be as funny as it was but I was wrong. We hung out at the pool and had a lot of alone time.
I started school and I am LOVING it. I love making up for my grades in high school, having goals and hoping life will be better after all this hard work. I have a long way to go but I know I can get through it. So far I have got all A's except one B on one of my homeworks. That really sucked. I just keep trying harder I want to graduate with a 4.0.
Finally finished some wedding pages for a lovely girl. Now I feel like I can create freely again. Speaking of creating I am now a part of this super neat project. Have you heard? I know ATC's aren't every ones forte but sometimes making tiny art gets the juices going. The first prompt was be inspired by Alice in Wonderland. One of my fav. I had a lot of fun with it.
Our first guest designer is Tara Anderson and I LOVE her work. Beautiful, layered and usually vintage goodness. She knocked it outta the park with her atc's. Sooo lovely. You gotta check them out.
I have another prompt to work on and I am sooo gonna use her work for inspo. Come play along with us!
A page I forgot to share with ya. I made this a little while back with the Jenni Bowlin kit.
Gonna lock myself in my girl cave this weekend at some point and create away. :)
I really really could or two...Maybe 3. You know how I said that more bad then good seem to happen to me and my family in the previous post? Well for some reason some one or something felt like I didn't realize this and wanted to make that point known this past week in a half. Since that last post my pipes clogged, my ps3 died, and found out someone close had a very sad event happen in their life.
I mean yeah the ps3 isn't something I NEED to survive but those are not cheap. I can NOT afford to replace it so no movie watching or game playing for me or my family. The pipes...well that is something that is very shitty. LOL! I mean it is gonna cost me a few benjamins to fix and I really don't have one let alone a few. Sigh.
I did however start school Tuesday. It has been a crazy ride so far. I am trying my hardest and striving to get all A's we shall see. It is NOT easy by any means. Lots of medical terminology I have to memorize.
Another cool thing is I got my girl cave done-ish. If you know me you know that NOTHING is ever done for good in my house especially when it comes to interior decorating. I still need a new roof and could use a few bricks and a door. Oh and a window or two, paint, and odds and ends I really WANT but don't NEED.
Love my lockers. Hubby gave those up. They were in the man cave for years (garage).Of course we spray painted them. He helped me oh so very much with this project. Such a sweetheart.
We put a ac in (that we had from a while back) and now its easy like Sunday A.M. up in there! Love my girl cave! Brings sunshine to an otherwise dark day.
I made this in there...
Oh oh and I have some super secret news to share soon! Neato girls and neato art. Hmmmm you will have to wait and see!
P.S. Thank you all for the lovely comments on the last post. You all made me feel special :) Love this internet love.
Every year seems to be filled with highs and lows. The past few years I feel we have seen more lows then highs. I have hoped that life would look up. Hoped that the highs would out weigh the lows... So far that hope is just that. A hope. I am still hoping. Life seems to kick you. Not just when you're down...but especially when you're down it seems to hurt the most. *sigh* It WILL get better. It HAS to right? I know I am being vague. Just know it's a bunch of little things.
I do however count my blessings. When your husband is almost taken from you and you watch them suffer and there is not a damn thing you can do about it...Well that makes you count your blessings. THAT makes you love life even when it sucks. THAT makes you care for every one and everything around you.
I am human. I get depressed, mad, frustrated. I cry, yell, cuss. But I also love, hug, kiss and laugh. I don't know why I am telling you this. I guess I just need to say it for my self. Maybe I need to reassure me of who I am and that it's ok to be me. I don't know.
This was all brought on (as I stated above) by many little things. A few big things as well. One being I decided to go back to school. Sort of a dream of mine. I mean I wanted to go to college and get a higher education for a long time. Time. Time never allowed. Kids, work, family life, never allowed.
I have been working at this job now for 8 months. 8 months of my life waking up at 430 am going to a job that I felt was (to say the least) a sweat shop. I was making 9.00 a hour (one dollar above minimum wage) doing work that should have at least got me 12.00. I know that doesn't seem like a big difference but believe me it is. I was fed up. Having a hard time just making it. I needed a change. I needed to DO something to alter the way my life was going. I couldn't settle for this. I shouldn't, but I was. I wanted hubby to go back to school.
Then I had a thought. An idea. Why wait for things to come to me. Why let life pass me by one more second. DO SOMETHING! I did. I researched a little online. Read a few things. Then decided I wanted to be a RDA (registered dental assistant). They don't make wicked awesome money. They do however make better then 9.00 a hour. The best part is it's something I can be proud of. Something I worked for. Something I WANTED to do.
It was scary at first. The whole time in the admissions office I was thinking to myself "run! Get out while you still can." but I didn't. I signed up, got my loans (gulp), and quit my job (double gulp)! Yep that's right tmw is my last day. I will miss the lovely people I have got to encounter. I will not however miss the work.
Through all this stress and excitement I have had other things pile up around me. Things that just felt the need to pop up and say oh this ain't gonna be easy missy and we are gonna make it even harder. I have to believe I will prevail. I must. After all I am not fighting and living just for me.
So that is some of what has been weighing on my heart, mind, shoulders. As I said before life is full of highs and lows. I have had lots of lows but there has been a few highs sprinkled in here and there. They were lovely highs. I will share those all with you the next time I post. Thanks for listening (reading).
It has finally happened. The child teaches the parent. Ok well I am sure that there are many times that my children have taught me something I didn't know. I mean every day something new comes up. In this case that I speak of my daughter said (as she does many many times) "Mom you have to listen to this band, I think you will really like it." 6 times out of 10 I hate it. The other 4 it grows on me. This time...Well it was different. I fell in love with this music artist as soon as I heard the song. You may or may not have heard of A Fine Frenzy. If you have then you either hate it love it. If you haven't then take a listen.
We have marked off a few things on our summer to-do list. Camped out in the backyard last weekend. Why does it seem to go so perfect and lovely in our heads but when the time comes it is stressful and full of bickering? Well here at my house it is I don't know about you. Hahaha! I know they still will enjoy the wonderful time we did manage to have. We played card games by candle light and read poems from A Light In The Attic I absolutely love Shel. He was a major part of my childhood. (He, as in his writings.)Kids talked all night long and we slept under the stars.
Going to see Eclipse tonight and then tmw Hubby and I are off to the beach (Santa Cruz) to watch a free showing of Lost Boys. I am in love with this city. I have since I was a little girl. My mom loves it too and someday we will live there...Someday. *wink* Hoping I will have many lovely beach pics to share.
Some big news for me. I am officially enrolled in school. I start July 14Th. I am studying to become a RDA (registered Dental Assistant). I am really excited. Scared. Nervous. *sigh* I just hope when I am done this does MAJOR good for our family. This is why I do what I do. I just want a more stable and better life for my kids.
I have a 3 day weekend. Woot! Guess what I am doing? Yeah besides swimming and letting off fireworks at my Mama's house...I am going to be turning our old beat up shed (the witch hut my daughter so lovingly named it a few years back) into my scrap room! I am really excited. I have visions of loveliness in my head. Of course it is going to be a long work in progress kinda thing. It needs a floor. Was thinking handmade rag rug. It needs a roof patch job...Paint, paint, and more paint. Thinking one wall is gonna be chalkboard paint. I seen this LOVELY scrap room that has inspired me oh so very much. I'll take that one please! :) Things to be included in my scrap room...I have 2 sets of lockers one is surely going in there (check), old medicine cabinet, lights like you see on my porch(check), lovely turquoise bistro chair, hand made rag rug I mentioned above, vintage lovelies here and there and a handmade coffee filter hanging light ball thingy(check). I haven't showed ya yet but as soon as I get it up in that room pics will ensue! Ha!
Here are the before.
I see beach blue of some sort or pink on the outside...window, flower box, stepping stones and some other fine wonderful, whimsical bits.
Afters to come through out.
I still have to tell you about Hubby and my anniversary, movies we watched, and crops I have attended. I'll save those for next time.
First let me tell you the new Mojo is up! Come and play along.
This month is soooo busy. I have so many things planned in between work of course. Last weekend we went up and visited Columbia. My mama is a Docent up there and they were having a event they call The Diggins. The park sets up a tent town and they have the docents act out how it was in the 1800's. It is really neat. My mom worked at the laundry and the bakery.
I have been to Columbia many many times but never been to this event. We had a wonderful time indeed. You had to buy "eagles" if you wanted to get anything there.
Those 3 went to all the lemonade you could drink and a cute tin cup you got to keep. There was lots to do and see. We had a wonderful time.
This boy was soo freakin cute in his get up I had to take a pic. He totally paid me no mind as I snapped away.
My cute mom showing my son Aeden how they washed clothes in the old days.
I'll take all one of these in my back yard pls! :)
Ok so that is all I will share from our trip. On to a house pic. I re-did my frame wall. Tell me what ya think.
I went croppin with Erika and my cousin. Had a great time. I am really looking forward to a crop in Berkley on the 25th! My girls Kerry, Nikki, Ginger, Diane, and maybe Cheri, Erika, and cousin will be there too! It will be a hoot.
This weekend is my husband and my 3 year wedding anniversary. Oh and fathers day too lol! I have two days off work so that should prove to be very lovely. Cant wait for that. Then the weekend after is NWF camp out in your back yard day! Mark your calendars for June 26th if you want to participate.
I'm planning our second annual Tea party, & second annual Boys vs Girls water balloon fight! Not to mention Lost Boys on the beach in Santa Cruz, one of my fav movies at my fav beach! Can't wait for that!
My lovely daughter Raven and my sweet son Aeden graduated Thursday. My daughter from 8th grade and my son from Kindergarten. My babies are growing up so fast. My head is spinning from all the tears that I cried that day. So many feelings. Proud of the young people they are growing up to be and sad that they are just growing up. My daughter was on the honor roll and my son's teacher raved about how smart and well behaved he is. Being a parent is sometimes hard, frustrating, worrisome, and heartbreaking but it is always fulfilling.
The love you give and get is like no other. I am truly a lucky woman to be blessed with 4 beautiful children {& a loving hubby}.
My sweet children on mama's day.
I did a bit of crafting here and there. Here is my cupcake garland I made awhile back.
Some pages I forgot to share here.
On the home front...I painted the part of the column that was pumpkin, blue. I also found a different shelf to put under my window and painted that blue. Pics to come soon. I put one of my brownies on a shelf with my sweet dear I found at a antique store.
Many many things in store. Hopefully I can find time. :)
Ok should I start this post off on how time goes to darn fast and bad blogger I be?? Nah! I have been super busy. When I say busy I don't mean doing fun stuff either. Just work basically. Once I get home from work I watch TV, referee kids, eat, shower and go to bed just so I can do it all over again the next day. Then I usher my days away so I can have 2 days of peace (yeah right). I have been trying very hard not to wish and wish the week would go by fast and the weekend would get here but I must say it is REALLY hard!
I got a creative bug up my butt last weekend and did a few projects here and there. Mainly played with cupcake liners. Fun. Pics coming soon.
I have been so into messing around with my living room I kind of put scrappin on a back burner. I did however manage to throw 2 pages together. I'll post those soon too. In the meantime I made this little frame thing. I used a prima refill canvas page and a dollar tree back of a frame. Really like how it turned out.
My living room has been ever changing and I got a few new pieces to share. I am STILL not satisfied with this room. It is a work in progress and I hope one day I can call it done. I am sure my husband hopes that too.
Isn't that pillar lovely?!? Its all chippy and cracked and shabby. May paint that fabulous pumpkin color turquoise. I really love the pumpkin but not sure it matches to well. Debating.
How bout that pic? It is a TTVF pic using my new/old Kodak brownie. I went to this lovely craft/vintage shop and I was in heaven! She has vintage buttons galore. I sooo scored with this place. Not to mention these fabulous vintage cameras to start off my collection. I have been wanting some for a while now but never seen them in any antique stores. They were a good price too. 10 each!
I have some other scores to show but I will wait till next post! You have any cool finds to share with me? I would love to see.
